As a out-patient you do not have to stay in the facility for treatment, you just have to show up at certain times on certain days to get your meds.
If you are having a hard time staying clean and sober joined a local support group of your peers because you will find out that your goals of staying clean and sober are there goals to and you can help each other.
Extended care centers is a rehab for people who are very heavy into drugs who cannot stay sober no matter what they do.
The recovery house or sober house is for those who are newly sober and need a place to live so they can be active in a normal life under supervision.
The recovery and sober houses are commonly called “halfway houses” because you’re halfway back into a normal life as a sober citizen.
After leaving rehab the mind can start playing tricks on you which are called triggers, these triggers can make a person want to use drugs again, this is why you need continued therapy to help you through this problem.
A drug addict will always have problems with triggers for the rest of their lives that’s why it’s important they are in therapy and group sessions.
The dilemma becomes even worse when you slip back into using the drug of choice.
Also it is not uncommon for the user to think they can tolerate just as much of the drug as they could before rehab, resulting in an overdose from too much.
People that use drugs for a long period of time find themselves in a bad way because the body breaks down and death commonly occurs.
